We’re excited to announce that work has started on the new Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre being built next to Kāpiti College.
The college only needed a 200-seat theatre for its own use but has been urged by many members of the community to build a larger facility to meet the region’s needs. So after years of research, consultation and planning, the green light has been given to build a 330-seat performing arts centre for use by both the college and the Kāpiti Coast community.
The venue will provide a leading edge educational space as well as a hub for community arts. The new arts centre will offer an affordable space for community performers; a modern theatre with quality acoustics with a layout suitable for shows (with green rooms and practice areas) that will hopefully also attract national acts. Kāpiti College will gain classroom spaces for music and drama teaching, a black box theatre for drama performances and spaces for rehearsals and recording.
