HOW TO EARN HOUSE POINTS
Students can earn house points for Tararua, Moana, Nikau and Mana in heaps of exciting ways, and it all begins with staying informed. The most important thing you can do is actively read the daily notices, as this is where events, sign-ups, and opportunities are first shared. Alongside this, make sure you’re checking the school website, following updates on Instagram, and listening closely during house meetings, where key information is reinforced. House points aren’t just about big events either — students can also earn points by demonstrating our Parihaka mai ai values around the kura every day. Showing respect, kindness, responsibility, and pride in how you act all counts. And when opportunities come up, getting involved is key. Participation almost always earns points, and strong effort and enthusiasm can make a real difference.
There are loads of events throughout the year where students can earn house points through participation or by placing well. These include Activity Day, Chant Competition, Athletics, Blood Drive, Shakespeare Day, Beach Tabloids, Relay For Life, Talent Quest, Quiz Night, Youth Week, Year 9 Haka Competition, Term 2 Reading Competition, Term 2 Attendance, KChase, Dodgeball, Year 9 Bench Ball, Term 3 Reading Competition, and the Haka Competition — plus many more along the way. Every event is a chance to back your house, build pride, and help Tararua, Moana, Nikau or Mana climb the leaderboard
