Learning Support
The Kāpiti College Learning Support department provides assistance for a wide variety of students across the College from those taking correspondence subjects to students with behavioural and learning difficulties.
Our Special Needs unit largely caters for ORRS-funded children and generally has a roll of 8-15. Teacher Nicki Gibbs can be contacted at nicki.gibbs@kc.school.nz
Learning Support is managed by Tim Seymour (tim.seymour@kc.school.nz), supported by four teacher aides and Karenne Ekdahl - who supervises the Learning Support classroom.
Assistance for students with dyslexia and related learning needs is provided by Gemma Marriott, our SPELD tutor. Parents of prospective students who believe that their child has a reading disability are advised to contact SPELD to arrange an assessment. Gemma can also be contacted at Gemma.Marriott@kc.school.nz
