The Kāpiti College Learning Support department provides assistance for a wide variety of students across the College from those taking correspondence subjects to students with behavioural and learning difficulties.
Our Special Needs unit largely caters for ORRS-funded children and generally has a roll of 8-15. Teacher Cliff Heustice can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
Learning Support is managed by Tim Seymour (email@example.com), supported by four teacher aides and Karenne Ekdahl - who supervises the Learning Support classroom.
We also have a full time SENCo (Special Education Needs Coordinator) position supporting students with learning and/or behaviour needs. You can contact Dianne Watson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Assistance for students with dyslexia and related learning needs is provided by Sarah Sharpe, our SPELD tutor. Parents of prospective students who believe that their child has a reading disability are advised to contact SPELD to arrange an assessment. Sarah can also be contacted at email@example.com.
