Kapiti College, located on the beautiful Kapiti Coast, seeks an inspirational Director of Sport and Active Recreation to lead our comprehensive extracurricular programme. Our student-centred culture is driven by four core priorities: Excellence & Achievement, Ākonga well-being & belonging, Whānau and community partnerships, and Cultural growth (embedding Mātauranga Māori). The Director must align their vision with these values.

This leadership role requires developing a strategic plan to enhance participation, performance, and enjoyment for all students, driving a high-profile, inclusive sports culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directing and managing the entire programme, ensuring safety and policy compliance.

• Securing sponsorships and funding to grow resources.

• Building strong relationships with coaches, College Sport Wellington, and the community.

• Providing sound financial management and efficient administration of equipment.

The successful applicant will:

• Have a proven track record in sports leadership and management.

• Possess outstanding people and communication skills with high integrity.

• Be passionate about promoting fair play and growing sports participation.

• Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to manage complex timelines.

• Show cultural competence, including an understanding of nga tikanga Māori.

This is a 52-week position. Remuneration is Salary Grade Grade 5, with terms of employment to be negotiated.
