Enrollments for 2026 close Wednesday, 23rd July
The College has an elected Board of Trustees which oversees the governance of the College and its finances.
The Board is elected by BOT elections every three years - the next election will be held in September 2025. Meetings are held monthly and can be attended by interested parents. If you would like to attend courtesy dictates that you advise the Board Secretary in advance. Please note that should there be issues that need to be addressed "In Committee" then you will be asked to leave during that period of discussion.
If you have any issues or concerns, you are welcome to write to the Board via Wendy Marsh, Board Secretary: wendy.marsh@kc.school.nz. Wendy can be contacted on 04 902 5121 for assistance with matters related to the Board.
Board members are:
Nichola Coe - Presiding Member
Richard O'Reilly
Ben Addington
Sharlene Maoate-Davis
Robbie Hutchinson - Staff Representative
Sorcha Adams - Student Representative
David Lowe- Principal
Nichola was elected as a parent representative to the Kapiti College Board in 2022. She and her partner, Duncan, have two sons currently in Year 13 and Year 11. Before joining the Kapiti College Board, Nichola served as the Presiding Member of the Board at Raumati Beach School for three years, having been a member for five. Nichola was a member of the Board subcommittee responsible for overseeing the appointment of the current Principal.
Nichola has a passion for education, spending 25 years as a high school Mathematics teacher before transitioning to her current role as a School Relationship Manager with NZQA. She also serves as a member of the Teachers Council Disciplinary Tribunal.
Ben joined the Kapiti College Board as a parent representative because he wanted to give back to a school that has given so much to his son. Now that he’s graduated, his time on the board is coming to an end, but he would like to encourage other parents to consider putting themselves forward.
Being a board member has been rewarding, eye-opening, and genuinely worthwhile. Ben has contributed to key decisions that shape the school’s direction. From strategic planning to property upgrades, as well as student wellbeing and strengthening our connection with whānau and the wider community. Ben acknowledges that it has been a privilege to support a school that works hard to help every student thrive.
Ben has brought his professional skills in planning, governance, and stakeholder engagement to the board table. But says you don’t need to have a particular job title or background to make a valuable contribution. If you care about young people, believe in the power of public education, and want to play a part in helping Kapiti College succeed, then you already have what it takes.
We need diverse voices and strong partnerships between whānau and kura, and Ben hopes you’ll consider standing.
Richard is the General Manager of Policy, Communications and Government Engagement at Crown Infrastructure Delivery Limited – the Crown’s dedicated infrastructure delivery agency. Richard has also held senior policy and management roles at the Ministry of Education, Land Information New Zealand and Waka Kotahi and has experience in the private sector with TSARiley.
Richard has been on the Board since 2022 and chaired the Board subcommittee that managed the process to appoint our current Principal David Lowe. Richard has two daughters at Kapiti College who in 2025 are in years 9 and 13.
Robbie is the staff representative on the Board of Trustees. This is a role he has filled since 2022. He has been teaching at Kapiti College since 2017, initially in the Social Sciences department before moving across to teach Physical Education and Health which is his specialist area.
